Details of the respective functions of the Board of Governors and the Principal in relation to admission to the school.
In the case of the school being oversubscribed the admissions criteria stated below will be applied by the Principal. In the event of a dispute or appeal the Principal will consult with the Board of Governors.
When considering which children should be selected for admission, the Board of Governors will only take into account information which is detailed on or attached to the application form. Admissions criteria to be used in the event of the school being oversubscribed. The criteria are listed in order of priority.
It is the intention of this Board of Governors to admit children to Linn Primary School according to the wishes of parents. Should the number of children whose parents wish them to attend this school exceed the quotas laid down by the Department of Education, then the Board of Governors and Principal will endeavour to adhere to the criteria as follows:
- Children must be of compulsory school age.
- A child whose Parent/Guardian is a permanent member of staff of Linn Primary School including the Nursery Unit.
- A child whose sibling, brother/sister, half-brother/sister or foster brother/sister
(b) Has been offered a place elsewhere in the school for the coming year.
- A child presently attending Linn Primary School Nursery Unit.
- Children whose home address is closest to the front gate of the school as measured in a straight line on an OS map.
The provision of false or incorrect information or the failure to provide verifying documents according to the required deadline may result in either the withdrawal of a place or the inability of a primary school to offer a place.
If more than one application is received at the same time the above criteria will be applied.
